SPIRITUAL WARFARE – THE ARMOUR OF GOD

Dear God, today I put on your full Amour of God, to guard my life against all spiritual attacks.  First, I put on the Belt of Truth to protect myself against the lies and deception from the enemy.  Next, I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect my heart from the temptations I battle daily in my life.  Then, I put on the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace on my feet, so I am ready to take your Word wherever you send me this day.  I choose to walk in the peace and freedom of your Spirit and not be overcome with fear and anxious thoughts.  You have not given me a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.  I will not let my emotions control my decisions and I will speak words of love, peace and truth.  I will take up the Shield of Faith that will extinguish all the darts and threats hurled my way by the enemy.  I believe in your power to protect me, and I choose to trust in you.  I will then put on the Helmet of Salvation, which covers my mind and thoughts and deeds and reminds me that I am one of Your children this day, forgiven, set free, saved by the grace of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Now I take up the Sword of the Spirit, your very Word, the one offensive weapon given to me for battle, which has the power to demolish strongholds, alive, active and sharper than any double-edged sword. Then I will put on the Shield of Faith for I will not be afraid for You are going with me throughout the day. My faith is in You alone. Lord apart from you I can do nothing but with You all things are possible.

I ask for Your help in remembering to put on your full armour every day, for you give me all that I need to stand firm in this world.  Forgive me God for the times I have been unprepared, too busy and distracted or trying to fight and wrestle battles in my own strength.

Thank you that I never fight alone, for you are constantly at work on my behalf, shielding, protecting, strengthening, exposing deeds and bringing to light what needs to be known, covering me from the cruel attacks that I face even when I am unaware.
