The Bible Helps in Times of Difficulty

Posted on 1 February 2017

If you are depressed, read the twenty-seventh Psalm.

If you are losing confidence, read the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians.

If people seem unkind, read St. John chapter Fifteen.

If you are discouraged about your work, read Psalm one hundred and Twenty-six.

If you find the world growing small, and yourself great, read the nineteenth Psalm.

If you cannot have your own way in everything, keep silent, and read the Third Chapter of St. James.

If you are feeling at all out of sorts, read the Twelfth Chapter of epistle of the Hebrews.

Also read the story of Elisha at Dothan in the sixth Chapter of Second Kings.

And Isaiah 41:1: Keep silence before me, O Islands: and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak; let us come near together to judgment.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

"an old Irish Prayer"

  1. Take time to work-it is the price of success.
  2. Take time to think-it is the source of power.
  3. Take time to play-it is the secret of perpetual youth.
  4. Take time to read-it is the fountain of wisdom.
  5. Take time to be friendly-it is the road to happiness.
  6. Take time to dream-it is hitching your wagon to a star.
  7. Take time to love and be loved-it is ordained of God.
  8. Take time to look around- the day is too short to be selfish.
  9. Take time to laugh-it is music of the soul.
